Norcross Email Extravaganza Vol. 368
A weekly email for the young & forever young in Historic Norcross
DID YOU KNOW...?
The City Council Candidate Forum took place on Tuesday, October 7, with all four candidates in attendance. Unfortunately, it was not recorded or live-streamed. I’ve asked each candidate to send short video answers for Young Norcross, just like the 2023 election. I will share their responses later this month ahead of voting day!
Additionally, Norcross Porchfest is moving forward smoothly! We’ll meet with City Council later this month for noise ordinance clearance. Once approved, we will email the volunteer list with specific ways to help. We have an immediate need for a graphic designer, so if you are one and can assist, email norcrossporchfest@gmail.com. You can still sign up to volunteer!
PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Thrasher Park was full of parents and students before the walk to BIA for National Walk to School Day, Wednesday, October 8. It’s so fun to live in a walkable town!
Submit a photo to be featured! This can be you/your family, cool critters around town, cozy corners you like to rest in, events, the train, sunsets, etc! It’s up to you - just send your photo and a brief description to youngnorcross@gmail.com!
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
Norcross Art Splash Festival
The 22nd annual Norcross Art Splash Festival is tomorrow, Saturday, October 11 from 10am-6pm, and Sunday, October 12 from 10am-5pm at Thrasher Park. Expect artists with paintings, clay, jewelry, wood, metal, fiber, mixed media, folk art, photography, glass, and more! Plus live music, food, and drinks all weekend!
Mt. Carmel Preschool Openings
The Mt. Carmel preschool still has a few open spots in the two year old class. This class is open up to five days a week from 9:30am-1:30pm. Contact mtcarmelpres@comcast.net for more information and to take a tour!
Pedal Norcross
The City of Norcross is ‘gearing up’ for their annual Pedal Norcross event! Attendees of all ages and skills levels get to explore Norcross on a 4.1 mile group ride, all while promoting safe and sustainable biking practices! This year the event will take place on Saturday, October 18 from 3-6pm at Norcross City Hall, 65 Lawrenceville Street. They’re offering free bike and helmet rentals, as well as free bike tune ups, if attendees bring their own bike. Check out their site for (free) tickets, volunteer, and donation opportunities!
White Squirrels of Norcross Project
The Norcross Public Arts Commission is launching the White Squirrels of Norcross Project and gathering name ideas for the squirrel statues! Share suggestions through the online survey by Friday, November 7, or stop by the NPAC booth at the Norcross Art Splash Festival this weekend. Learn more and submit name ideas!
