Norcross Email Extravaganza Vol. 360
A weekly email for the young & forever young in Historic Norcross
DID YOU KNOW...?
You might remember Edward F. “Buck” Buchanan and the Nor-X, a rare car from Norcross’s short-lived try at auto manufacturing in the early 1900s. His story makes me laugh. In 1908, Buck was arrested in Manhattan for driving 21 mph. Back then, that was fast enough to get you hauled into court.
Years later, while in bankruptcy court, he said he had “given away” automobiles. Ever since, people have wondered if a Nor-X might still be sitting in a barn or garage. (Are you hiding one?) Local resident and historian Geoff Hammett, who has spent years studying Buchanan and the town’s past, shared this story. It’s too good not to pass along.
