DID YOU KNOW...?
Historians suggest that the numerous Peachtree streets in Georgia (like our North, South, and West Peachtree streets) likely originated from a misinterpretation. The Cherokee tribe named a nearby river after a “standing pitch tree,” referring to the sticky resin found in pine trees. Over time, this “pitch tree” reference evolved into “Peachtree.”
